How does your garden grow?
There was a time when I had an over abundance of vegetables. With that over abundance of food, I also had a house full. My husband and six children were just enough mouths for all the extras. I really enjoyed those times of planting and harvesting what we grew. The tomatoes on the right were from our garden. I made Salsa, Chow Chow (a relish) and various sauces. It was a time of abundance to meet a need. The picture on the left are my tomatoes I received today from a friend. Thank God for friends!! π There’s nothing like fresh tomatoes! As I looked at my new tomatoes, I thought about the way I used to live, plant and gather. Times have changed. I no longer have a house full of mouths to feed. There is no longer a need or room for acre gardens, at least not in this season. I am happy and content with my four tomatoes and enjoying the thought of a season past. I am reminded of the scripture in Philippians.
Philippians 4: 12-14 (NIV)
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
I won’t be making sauces or salsa, but I will be eating fresh tomatoes I didn’t plant or harvest. I am in a season of reaping what I didn’t plant….but oh did I sow some tomatoes at a time in my life! π
